  2. Project possible volume in total units.
  3. Convert numbers of units into sales revenues by factoring retail price.

Caution: Handle Claims Carefully

Later, when you are building your business plan or looking for investors, be very careful about making claims of potential sales to investors, because they just might hold you to it, even suing you if you don’t produce.

Conventional wisdom in calculating Market Share now usually involves portraying the total market for a product and service in terms of demographics and total potential revenues, and letting the investor draw their own conclusions about the percentage for penetration.
